Thomas Hilt Allen Foundation
Thomas Hilt was born August 18, 2009. He was our second child, but our first son and quickly became an important part of our family. He had such an easy-going and happy personality. He would be sucking on his pacifier, see someone smiling and talking to him, release the pacifier, his cheeks would move upward towards his eyes and give the cutest smile ever. He was a healthy baby boy who melted the hearts of everyone he met.
On February 27, 2010, we laid Tommy down for his nap and he never woke up. The cause of death was soon determined to be SIDS, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Losing a son unexpectedly was the hardest thing we had ever gone through. With the support of God, family, church, and friends we slowly were able to live with the new normal of life without Tommy.
There is currently no cause or cure for the diagnosis of SIDS, therefore there is not a way to prevent it from happening. Soon after Tommy’s death, The Thomas Hilt Allen Foundation was formed to support other families who have lost a child to SIDS and to SUID, Sudden Unexpected Infant Death, and to fund research so that eventually other families will not have to go through what we did.
We now have three children and feel blessed to help others through the THA Foundation. There will always be a void in our family where Tommy would have fit, but we know he is safe in the arms of Jesus. We have chosen to trust God’s perfect plan for our lives.
